  abstract = {{A} brief collecting exploration to small streams in the coastal zone of {F}rench {G}uiana resulted in the capture of eight species belonging to the genus {S}micridea {M}c{L}achlan 1871 and two belonging to the genus {C}himarra {S}tephens 1829. {G}iven the scarcity of knowledge about the trichopteran fauna of this territory, the results of the study of this material are provided. {A} new species of the genus {S}micridea is described: {S}micridea ({R}hyacophylax) sanctorum sp. n. {S}ix species of {S}micridea are new for {F}rench {G}uiana: {S}micridea ({R}.) abrupta {F}lint 1974, {S}micridea ({R}.) caligata {F}lint 1974, {S}micridea ({R}.) columbiana {U}lmer 1905, {S}micridea ({R}.) pseudolobata {F}lint 1978, {S}micridea ({S}.) obliqua {F}lint 1974, and {S}micridea ({S}.) truncata {F}lint 1974. {T}hese results bring the number of {F}rench {G}uianan {S}micridea species to 16. {T}he two {C}himarra species represent the first species records of the genus in {F}rench {G}uiana.},
