@article{fdi:010075487, title = {{P}ast {A}mazon {B}asin fluvial systems, insight into the {C}enozoic sequences using seismic geomorphology ({M}aranon {B}asin, {P}eru)}, author = {{C}alves, {G}. and {C}alderon, {Y}. and {R}oso, {V}. and {B}onnel, {C}. and {R}oddaz, {M}artin and {B}russet, {S}. and {B}aby, {P}atrice and {C}lift, {P}. {D}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}his study of the seismic geomorphology of riverine deposits describes and discusses the spatial resolution at which we can detect fluvial features and how the subsequently collected data can help with our understanding of ancient fluvial reservoirs. {F}or this assessment we use three dimensional seismic reflection data, borehole data from ancient deposits in the {M}aranon foredeep basin of {P}eru, as well as digital elevation and satellite imagery data from the present day fluvial systems of the {A}mazonian {B}asin in the same area of {P}eru. {B}ased on seismic stratigraphic principles on amplitude display we test parameters to highlight the details of the internal structure of horizons interpreted on continuous wavelets. {S}eismic attributes such as amplitude, phase, sweetness and spectral decomposition techniques have been successfully applied to make a framework of seismic stratigraphic surfaces that highlight the internal architecture and morphologic details of the studied intervals. {T}his work confirms the presence of a {C}enozoic fluvial system in {P}eru with straight, meandering and anastomosing channels. {T}he observed fluvial features are associated with narrow to medium sized channels (10-similar to 700 m). {E}volution of parameters such as sinuosity allows the variation of load in the identified channel features to be constrained. {C}enozoic {M}aranon {B}asin rivers/streams size and shape are comparable to those observed in the present-day fluvial {A}mazon {B}asin. {T}he fluvial dynamics in the study area are identified to be at least present since the deposition of the {P}ozo-{C}hambira {F}ormation ({E}ocene-{O}ligocene) in the {M}aranon {B}asin.}, keywords = {{S}eismic geomorphology ; {F}luvial systems ; {M}eanders ; {C}hannels sinuosity ; {A}mazon {B}asin ; {C}enozoic ; {PEROU} ; {AMAZONIE} ; {AMAZONE} {BASSIN} ; {MARANON} {BASSIN}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {S}outh {A}merican {E}arth {S}ciences}, volume = {90}, numero = {}, pages = {440--452}, ISSN = {0895-9811}, year = {2019}, DOI = {10.1016/j.jsames.2018.12.019}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010075487}, }
