@article{fdi:010073174, title = {{R}evision of {C}orallinaceae ({C}orallinales, {R}hodophyta) : recognizing {D}awsoniolithon gen. nov., {P}arvicellularium gen. nov and {C}hamberlainoideae subfam. nov containing {C}hamberlainium gen. nov. and pneophyllum}, author = {{C}aragnano, {A}nnalisa and {F}oetisch, {A}. and {M}aneveldt, {G}. {W}. and {M}illet, {L}. and {L}iu, {L}. {C}. and {L}in, {S}. {M}. and {R}odondi, {G}. and {P}ayri, {C}laude}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} multi-gene ({SSU}, {LSU}, psb{A}, and {COI}) molecular phylogeny of the family {C}orallinaceae (excluding the subfamilies {L}ithophylloideae and {C}orallinoideae) showed a paraphyletic grouping of six monophyletic clades. {P}neophyllum and {S}pongites were reassessed and recircumscribed using {DNA} sequence data integrated with morpho-anatomical comparisons of type material and recently collected specimens. {W}e propose {C}hamberlainoideae subfam. nov., including the type genus {C}hamberlainium gen. nov., with {C}.tumidum comb. nov. as the generitype, and {P}neophyllum. {C}hamberlainium is established to include several taxa previously ascribed to {S}pongites, the generitype of which currently resides in {N}eogoniolithoideae. {A}dditionally we propose two new genera, {D}awsoniolithon gen. nov. ({M}etagoniolithoideae), with {D}.conicum comb. nov. as the generitype and {P}arvicellularium gen. nov. (subfamily incertae sedis), with {P}.leonardi sp. nov. as the generitype. {C}hamberlainoideae has no diagnostic morpho-anatomical features that enable one to assign specimens to it without {DNA} sequence data, and it is the first subfamily to possess both {T}ype 1 ({C}hamberlainium) and {T}ype 2 ({P}neophyllum) tetra/bisporangial conceptacle roof development. {T}wo characters distinguish {C}hamberlainium from {S}pongites: tetra/biasporangial conceptacle chamber diameter (<300m in {C}hamberlainium vs. >300m in {S}pongites) and tetra/bisporangial conceptacle roof thickness (<8 cells in {C}hamberlainium vs. >8 cells in {S}pongites). {T}wo characters also distinguish {P}neophyllum from {D}awsoniolithon: tetra/bisporangial conceptacle roof thickness (<8 cells in {P}neophyllum vs. >8 cells in {D}awsoniolithon) and thallus construction (dimerous in {P}neophyllum vs. monomerous in {D}awsoniolithon).}, keywords = {coralline red algae ; cox{I} ; {I}ndo-{P}acific {O}cean ; {LSU} ; morpho-anatomical ; observations ; phylogenesis ; psb{A} ; r{DNA} ; {SSU} ; {OCEAN} {INDIEN} ; {PACIFIQUE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {P}hycology}, volume = {54}, numero = {3}, pages = {391--409}, ISSN = {0022-3646}, year = {2018}, DOI = {10.1111/jpy.12644}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010073174}, }
