@article{fdi:010070444, title = {{T}ransfer of {P}seudomonas pictorum {G}ray and {T}hornton 1928 to genus {S}tenotrophomonas as {S}tenotrophomonas pictorum comb. nov., and emended description of the genus {S}tenotrophomonas}, author = {{O}uattara, {A}.{S}. and {L}e {M}er, {J}ean and {J}oseph, {M}. and {M}acarie, {H}erv{\'e}}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} polyphasic taxonomic approach including analysis of phenotypic, physiological and genotypic characteristics, 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence and {DNA}–{DNA} hybridization analysis was used to determine the most consistent affiliation of {P}seudomonas pictorum . {P}seudomonas pictorum {ATCC} 23328{T} exhibited phenotypic traits of members of the genus {S}tenotrophomonas including cellular fatty acid composition, quinone and limited range of substrates that could be used. {A}ntibiotic susceptibility and physiological characteristics were determined. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content was 65.7 mol%. {P}hylogenetic analysis revealed that the type strains of {S}tenotrophomonas terrae , {S}tenotrophomonas humi , {S}tenotrophomonas nitritireducens and {S}tenotrophomonas acidaminiphila were the nearest relatives (16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence similarity of 98.0 to 98.8 %). {A}ll the other type strains of species of the genus {S}tenotrophomonas showed high 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence similarities (96.8 to 97.2 %). {DNA}–{DNA} hybridizations revealed 31.0, 32.0, 43.3 and 43.6 % reassociation between {P}seudomonas pictorum {ATCC} 23328{T} and the type strains of {S}. terrae , {S}. humi , {S}. nitritireducens and {S}. acidaminiphila , respectively. {O}ur overall results indicate that {P}seudomonas pictorum should be transferred to the genus {S}tenotrophomonas as a novel species of this genus, {S}tenotrophomonas pictorum comb. nov. {S}ince the original description of the genus {S}tenotrophomonas was made with only one species ( {S}tenotrophomonas maltophilia ), an emendation of the genus description is proposed in order to match better with the characteristics of the eleven novel species assigned to this genus since then.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {67}, numero = {6}, pages = {1894--1900}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2017}, DOI = {10.1099/ijsem.0.001880}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010070444}, }
