  abstract = {{C}o-occurrence of symptoms is a public health problem in many developing countries. {I}n part due to a lack of appropriate data, there is little evidence of linkages between co-occurrence of diarrhoea and fever, and environmental and demographic factors. {W}e use data on the five neighbourhoods followed by the {O}uagadougou {H}ealth and {D}emographic {S}urveillance {S}ystem to examine the influence of environmental and demographic factors on the co-occurrence of diarrhoea and fever. {M}ultivariate ordered logit models show that the effects of environmental and demographic factors are more important for diarrhoea or fever than for diarrhoea and fever. {T}he results of the analysis also show that unsanitary housing, the nature of the ground outside, and the child's age are important factors in co-occurrence of diarrhoea and fever in children.},
