@article{fdi:010066222, title = {{A}nno{TALE} : bioinformatics tools for identification, annotation, and nomenclature of {TALE}s from {X}anthomonas genomic sequences}, author = {{G}rau, {J}. and {R}eschke, {M}. and {E}rkes, {A}. and {S}treubel, {J}. and {M}organ, {R}. {D}. and {W}ilson, {G}. {G}. and {K}oebnik, {R}alf and {B}och, {J}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}ranscription activator-like effectors ({TALE}s) are virulence factors, produced by the bacterial plant-pathogen {X}anthomonas, that function as gene activators inside plant cells. {A}lthough the contribution of individual {TALE}s to infectivity has been shown, the specific roles of most {TALE}s, and the overall {TALE} diversity in {X}anthomonas spp. is not known. {TALE}s possess a highly repetitive {DNA}-binding domain, which is notoriously difficult to sequence. {H}ere, we describe an improved method for characterizing {TALE} genes by the use of {P}ac{B}io sequencing. {W}e present '{A}nno{TALE}', a suite of applications for the analysis and annotation of {TALE} genes from {X}anthomonas genomes, and for grouping similar {TALE}s into classes. {B}ased on these classes, we propose a unified nomenclature for {X}anthomonas {TALE}s that reveals similarities pointing to related functionalities. {T}his new classification enables us to compare related {TALE}s and to identify base substitutions responsible for the evolution of {TALE} specificities.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{S}cientific {R}eports - {N}ature}, volume = {6}, numero = {}, pages = {art. 21077 [12 p.]}, ISSN = {2045-2322}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1038/srep21077}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010066222}, }
