@article{fdi:010065875, title = {{T}axonomic revision of {P}ycnandra subgenus {T}rouettia ({S}apotaceae), with six new species from {N}ew {C}aledonia}, author = {{S}wenson, {U}. and {M}unzinger, {J}{\'e}rome}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{P}ycnandra ({S}apotaceae, {C}hrysophylloideae) is endemic to {N}ew {C}aledonia, with similar to 60 species, and is subdivided into five (or six) subgenera. {H}ere, we revise {P}. subg. {T}rouettia and recognise 17 species of which six ({P}. bourailensis, {P}. caeruleilatex, {P}. confusa, {P}. elliptica, {P}. pubiflora and {P}. sessiliflora) are described as new and provide 10 new combinations. {T}he subgenus is found only in {G}rande {T}erre, the main island of {N}ew {C}aledonia. {T}he members occur in a wide range of habitats, from dry maquis vegetation to moist humid forest, from sea level to the higher massif, and all species except {P}. bourailensis and {P}. sarlinii are restricted to ultramafic soils. {P}ycnandra is characterised by the absence of staminodes, a single-seeded fruit, plano-convex cotyledons and the absence of endosperm. {P}ycnandra subg. {T}rouettia is distinguished on a character combination of several homoplastic features such as alternate and tomentulose leaves, pubescent ovary and a broad seed scar. {T}he corolla is tomentulose on the outer surface of six species, a character shared with one species in {P}. subg. {A}chradotypus. {B}ecause of past and present mining activities in {N}ew {C}aledonia and because these species are restricted to habitats on ultramafic soils, conservation assessments are urgently needed. {P}reliminary {IUCN} {R}ed {L}ist assessments are provided for all members of subg. {T}rouettia. {S}ix taxa ({P}. deplanchei subsp. deplanchei, {P}. deplanchei subsp. floribunda, {P}. intermedia, {P}. obscurinerva, {P}. sarlinii, {P}. sessiliflora) are proposed the {IUCN} status of {V}ulnerable; {P}. caeruleilatex, {P}. elliptica and {P}. schmidii are considered to be {E}ndangered, and the two species {P}. bourailensis and {P}. confusa are proposed to be listed as {C}ritically {E}ndangered.}, keywords = {red list criteria ; chrysophylloideae sapotaceae ; endemic genus ; phylogeny ; ericales ; identification ; conservation ; cunoniaceae ; madagascar ; morphology}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}ustralian {S}ystematic {B}otany}, volume = {23}, numero = {5}, pages = {333--370}, ISSN = {1030-1887}, year = {2010}, DOI = {10.1071/sb10025}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010065875}, }
