(type strain {STM}10272{T}= {LMG}28615{T}= {CIP}110887{T}) and {B}. ultra-mafica sp. nov. (type strain {STM}10279{T}= {LMG}28614{T}= {CIP}110886{T}) are proposed, respectively. {T}hesestrains of {B}urkholderia presented specific ecological traits such as the tolerance to the extreme edaphicconstraints of ultramafic soils: they grew at p{H} between 4 and 8 and tolerate the strong unbalanced{C}a/{M}g ratio (1/19) and the high concentrations of heavy metals i.e. {C}o, {C}r, {M}n and {N}i. {N}oteworthy {B}.ultramafica tolerated nickel until 10 m{M} and {B}. novacaledonica up to 5 m{M}. {T}he presence of the nickel(nre{B}) and cobalt/nickel (cnr) resistance determinants encoding for protein involved in metal tolerancewas found in all strains of both groups. {M}oreover, most of the strains were able to produce plant growthpromoting molecules ({ACC}, {IAA}, {NH}3and siderophores). {S}uch ecological traits suggest that these newspecies of {B}urkholderia might be environmentally adaptable plant-associated bacteria and beneficialto plants.}, keywords = {{NOUVELLE} {CALEDONIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{S}ystematic and {A}pplied {M}icrobiology}, volume = {39}, numero = {3}, pages = {151--159 [+ corrigenda vol.30, no 5, p. 359 et 2019, vol. 42, p. 422]}, ISSN = {0723-2020}, year = {2016}, DOI = {10.1016/j.syapm.2016.03.008}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010065744}, }
