  abstract = {{A} new species of {O}malodini, {O}malodes atacamanus sp. nov., is described from {C}hile. {A} redefinition of {O}malodini is proposed and an identification key to the genera is provided. {T}he new species can be distinguished from other species of {O}malodes mainly by all tibiae having a row of setae on outer submarginal region. {O}malodini sensu nov. is herein restricted to a lineage of {E}bonius {L}ewis, 1885 and {O}malodes {D}ejean, 1833. {T}he tribe has known distribution across {L}atin {A}merica with some species reaching the southern {USA}.},
