@article{fdi:010062720, title = {Écologie trophique du {C}hacal dor{\'e} dans le {P}arc {N}ational du {D}jurdjura ({K}abylie, {A}lg{\'e}rie) = {T}rophic ecology of the {G}olden {J}ackal in {D}jurdjura {N}ational {P}ark ({K}abylie, {A}lgeria)}, author = {{A}mroun, {M}. and {O}ubellil, {D}. and {G}aubert, {P}hilippe}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{S}ince the rediscovery of the {A}frican {W}olf, a certain level of uncertainty surrounds the ecological status of the golden {J}ackal in northern {A}frica. {W}e characterized the trophic spectrum of the '{G}olden {J}ackal' phenotype (distinct from the '{A}frican {W}olf' phenotype) and its possible seasonal variations in relation with availability of resources (waste included) in the {D}jurdjura {N}ational {P}ark ({DNP}), northern {A}lgeria. {T}he analysis of 360 faeces collected over one year shows that 91 % of the items consumed by the {G}olden {J}ackal belong to five categories: mammals (27 %), non-energetic plants (20 %), energetic plants (19 %), arthropods (16%) and waste (10 %). {O}ur results confirm that the {G}olden {J}ackal is a generalist and opportunistic predator, with mammals representing the principal energy source. {T}he {G}olden {J}ackal in {PND} shows an original predilection for the mammalian preys of medium size ({W}ild {B}oar - the main contributor in terms of biomass - {B}arbary {M}acaque and {S}heep). {T}his illustrates its potential for maximizing net energy gain (hunting cost vs. biomass supply) thanks to its capacity to reach larger preys. {T}he high indices of trophic diversity observed throughout the year suggest dietary habits following levels of resource availability rather than strict seasonal "specializations". {T}he existence of peaks of consumption of {W}ild {B}oars and {B}arbary {M}acaques outside 'critical' seasons (spring and winter) together with the weak probability to feed on carcasses (absence of local hunting activities) support the hypothesis of an active hunting of these preys by the {G}olden {J}ackal. {H}owever, this would imply a behaviour of co-operative hunting seldom observed in {M}aghreb. {T}he high representation of plants in the trophic spectrum of the {G}olden {J}ackal confirms that the diet of the {C}arnivores from the {M}editerranean areas generally includes more vegetable material than in northern latitudes. {W}aste (as well as livestock and poultry) is a weak contributor to the diet of the {G}olden {J}ackal. {T}his is potentially linked to the quality of the habitat and to the important availability of food items in the {DNP}.}, keywords = {{ALGERIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{R}evue d'{E}cologie-{L}a {T}erre et la {V}ie}, volume = {69}, numero = {3-4}, pages = {304--317}, ISSN = {0249-7395}, year = {2014}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010062720}, }
