@article{fdi:010060231, title = {{M}olecular phylogenetics of {N}ew {C}aledonian {D}iospyros ({E}benaceae) using plastid and nuclear markers}, author = {{T}urner, {B}. and {M}unzinger, {J}{\'e}r{\^o}me and {D}uangjai, {S}. and {T}emsch, {E}.{M}. and {S}tockenhuber, {R}. and {B}arfuss, {M}.{H}.{J}. and {C}hase, {M}.{W}. and {S}amuel, {R}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}o clarify phylogenetic relationships among {N}ew {C}aledonian species of {D}iospyros, sequences of four plastid markers (atp{B}, rbc{L}, trn{K}mat{K} and trn{S}trn{G}) and two low-copy nuclear markers (ncp{GS} and {PHYA}) were analysed. {N}ew {C}aledonian {D}iospyros species fall into three clades, two of which have only a few members (1 or 5 species); the third has 21 closely related species for which relationships among species have been mostly unresolved in a previous study. {A}lthough species of the third group ({NC} clade {III}) are morphologically distinct and largely occupy different habitats, they exhibit little molecular variability. {D}iospyros vieillardii is sister to the rest of the {NC} clade {III}, followed by {D}. umbrosa and {D}. flavocarpa, which are sister to the rest of this clade. {S}pecies from coastal habitats of western {G}rande {T}erre ({D}. cherrieri and {D}. veillonii) and some found on coralline substrates ({D}. calciphila and {D}. inexplorata) form two well-supported subgroups. {T}he species of {NC} clade {III} have significantly larger genomes than found in diploid species of {D}iospyros from other parts of the world, but they all appear to be diploids. {B}y applying a molecular clock, we infer that the ancestor of the {NC} clade {III} arrived in {N}ew {C}aledonia around 9 million years ago. {T}he oldest species are around 7 million years old and the youngest ones probably much less than 1 million years.}, keywords = {{PLANTE} {MEDICINALE} ; {PHYLOGENIE} ; {TAXONOMIE} ; {GENOME} ; {MARQUEUR} {MOLECULAIRE} ; {NOUVELLE} {CALEDONIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{M}olecular {P}hylogenetics and {E}volution}, volume = {69}, numero = {3}, pages = {740--763}, ISSN = {1055-7903}, year = {2013}, DOI = {10.1016/j.ympev.2013.07.002}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010060231}, }
