@article{fdi:010055810, title = {{R}esistance to {DDT} and pyrethroids and increased kdr mutation frequency in {A}n. gambiae after the implementation of permethrin-treated nets in {S}enegal [article r{\'e}tract{\'e}]}, author = {{N}diath, {M}. {O}. and {S}ougoufara, {S}. and {G}aye, {A}. and {M}azenot, {C}. and {K}onate, {L}. and {F}aye, {O}. and {S}okhna, {C}heikh and {T}rape, {J}ean-{F}ran{\c{c}}ois}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}ntroduction: {T}he aim of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility to insecticides of {A}n. gambiae mosquitoes sampled in {D}ielmo ({S}enegal), in 2010, 2 years after the implementation of {L}ong {L}asting {I}nsecticide-treated {N}ets ({LLIN}s) and to report the evolution of kdr mutation frequency from 2006 to 2010. {M}ethods: {WHO} bioassay susceptibility tests to 6 insecticides were performed on adults {F}0, issuing from immature stages of {A}n. gambiae s.l., sampled in {A}ugust 2010. {S}pecies and molecular forms as well as the presence of {L}1014{F} and {L}1014{S} kdr mutations were assessed by {PCR}. {L}ongitudinal study of kdr mutations was performed on adult mosquitoes sampled monthly by night landing catches from 2006 to 2010. {F}indings: {N}o specimen studied presented the {L}1014{S} mutation. {D}uring the longitudinal study, {L}1014{F} allelic frequency rose from 2.4% in year before the implementation of {LLIN}s to 4.6% 0-12 months after and 18.7% 13-30 months after. {I}n 2010, {A}n. gambiae were resistant to {DDT}, {L}ambda-cyhalothrin, {D}eltamethrin and {P}ermethrin (mortality rates ranging from 46 to 63%) but highly susceptible to {F}enitrothion and {B}endiocarb (100% mortality). {T}here was significantly more {RR} genotype among {A}n. gambiae surviving exposure to {DDT} or {P}yrethroids. {A}n. arabiensis represented 3.7% of the sampled mosquitoes (11/300) with no kdr resistance allele detected. {A}n. gambiae molecular form {M} represented 29.7% of the mosquitoes with, among them, kdr genotypes {SR} (18%) and {SS} (82%). {A}n. gambiae molecular form {S} represented 66% of the population with, among them, kdr genotype {SS} (33.3%), {SR} (55.6%) and {RR} (11.1%). {O}nly 2 {MS} hybrid mosquitoes were sampled and presented {SS} kdr genotype. {C}onclusion: {B}iological evidence of resistance to {DDT} and pyrethroids was detected among {A}n. gambiae mosquitoes in {D}ielmo ({S}enegal) within 24 months of community use of {LLIN}s. {M}olecular identification of {L}1014{F} mutation indicated that target site resistance increased after the implementation of {LLIN}s.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{P}los {O}ne}, volume = {7}, numero = {2}, pages = {e31943 [+ r{\'e}tractation : 2016, 11, 5, e0156195, 1 ]}, ISSN = {1932-6203}, year = {2012}, DOI = {10.1371/journal.pone.0031943}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010055810}, }
