  abstract = {{A} new quassinoid {P}icrasin {K} 1 was isolated from a decoction made of {Q}uassia amara leaves, traditionally used in {F}rench {G}uiana to treat malaria. {T}he structure and relative stereochemistry of 1 was determined through extensive {NMR} analysis. {P}icrasin {K} showed a low activity against {P}lasmodium falciparum in vitro ({IC}50 = 8 mu {M}), and a similar low activity on human cancerous cells line ({IC}50 = 7 mu {M} on {MCF}-7 cells line).},
