@article{fdi:010053761, title = {{A} scenario for late {N}eogene {A}ndean shortening transfer in the {C}amisea {S}ubandean zone ({P}eru, 12 degrees {S}) : {I}mplications for growth of the northern {A}ndean {P}lateau}, author = {{E}spurt, {N}. and {B}arbarand, {J}. and {R}oddaz, {M}. and {B}russet, {S}t{\'e}phane and {B}aby, {P}atrice and {S}aillard, {M}. and {H}ermoza, {W}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{P}recise knowledge of the timing of deformation in the {S}ubandean zone of the {A}ndean {P}lateau is a prerequisite for deciphering the late {N}eogene growth of the {A}ndean {P}lateau. {I}n this paper, we report new apatite fission-track ({AFT}) and vitrinite reflectance ({R}o) data for a regional balanced cross section of the {C}amisea {B}asin in the central {P}eruvian {S}ubandean zone, adjacent to the northern {A}ndean {P}lateau. {T}he balanced cross section shows that the structure of this basin is characterized by a broad internal passive roof duplex and external thrust-related anticlines. {T}he balanced cross-section restoration shows 53 km (39%) of total horizontal shortening. {W}e sampled {P}aleozoic to {C}enozoic sedimentary strata for {AFT} and {R}o analyses along the similar to 4-km-thick vertical profile of the {M}ainique back thrust (passive roof thrust), the innermost preserved {S}ubandean structure. {Y}oung components of {AFT} ages are spread between ca. 6 {M}a and ca. 24 {M}a. {A} break in the slope in the {AFT} ages determines the geometry of the {M}iocene partial annealing zone and the exhumation of the {M}ainique back thrust at ca. 6 {M}a. {S}equential restoration calibrated by {AFT} and {R}o data indicates that the last similar to 23 km horizontal shortening were accommodated by the {C}amisea thrust system over the past similar to 6 m.y., giving a mean shortening rate of 3.8 mm/yr. {U}sing this shortening rate for the first similar to 30 km horizontal shortening, we calculate that the {A}ndean shortening transfer into the {P}eruvian {S}ubandean zone initially started at ca. 14 {M}a. {T}his result suggests that the transfer of shortening from the northern {A}ndean {P}lateau to the {S}ubandean zone occurred prior to the removal of dense lithosphere previously reported to have occurred between ca. 10 {M}a and ca. 7 {M}a. {W}e rather propose that the late {N}eogene growth of the northern {A}ndean {P}lateau mostly resulted from a continuous crustal shortening combined with lower-crustal flow.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{G}eological {S}ociety of {A}merica {B}ulletin}, volume = {123}, numero = {9-10}, pages = {2050--2068}, ISSN = {0016-7606}, year = {2011}, DOI = {10.1130/b30165.1}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010053761}, }
