@article{fdi:010053141, title = {{S}porosalibacterium faouarense gen. nov., sp. nov., a moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from oil-contaminated soil}, author = {{R}ezgui, {R}. and {G}am, {Z}.{B}. and {B}en {H}amed, {S}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure and {C}ayol, {J}.{L}. and {M}aaroufi, {A}. and {L}abat, {M}arc}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} novel strictly anaerobic, moderately halophilic and mesophilic bacterium, designated strain {SOL}3f37({T}), was isolated from a hydrocarbon-polluted soil surrounding a deep petroleum environment located in south {T}unisia. {C}ells of strain {SOL}3f37({T}) stained {G}ram-positive and were motile, straight and spore-forming. {S}train {SOL}3f37({T}) had a typical {G}ram-positive-type cell-wall structure, unlike the thick, multilayered cell wall of its closest relative {C}lostridiisalibacter paucivorans. {T}he major fatty acids were iso-{C}-15:0 (41 %), iso-{C}-14:0 3-{OH} and/or iso-{C}-15:0 dimethyl acetal (21.6%), iso-{C}-13:0 (4.4%), anteiso-{C}-15:0 (3.9%) and iso-{C}-15:1 (2.8%). {S}train {SOL}3f37({T}) grew between 20 and 48 degrees {C} (optimum 40 degrees {C}) and at p{H} 6.2-8.1 (optimum p{H} 6.9). {S}train {SOL}3f37({T}) required at least 0.5 g {N}a{C}l l(-1) and grew in the presence of {N}a{CI} concentrations up to 150 g (optimum 40 g l(-1)). {Y}east extract (2 g l(-1)) was required for degradation of pyruvate, fumarate, fructose, glucose and mannitol. {A}lso, strain {SOL}3f37({T}) grew heterotrophically on yeast extract, peptone and bio-{T}rypticase, but was unable to grow on {C}asamino acids. {S}ulfate, thiosulfate, sulfite, elemental sulfur, fumarate, nitrate and nitrite were not reduced. {T}he {DNA} {G}+{C} content was 30.7 mol%. {P}hylogenetic analysis based on 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequences revealed that strain {SOL}3f37({T}) was a member of the family {C}lostridiaceae in the order {C}lostridiales; strain {SOL}3f37({T}) was related to members of various genera of the family {C}lostridiaceae. {I}t exhibited highest 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence similarity (93.4%) with {C}lostridiisalibacter paucivorans 37{HS}60({T}), 91.8% with {T}hermohalobacter berrensis {CTT}3({T}) and 91.7% with {C}aloranaerobacter azorensis {MV}1087({T}). {O}n the basis of genotypic, phenotypic and phylogenetic data, it is suggested that strain {SOL}3f37({T}) represents a novel species in a new genus. {T}he name {S}porosalibacterium faouarense gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed, with {SOL}3f37({T}) (={DSM} 21485({T}) ={JCM} 15487({T})) as the type strain of {S}porosalibacterium faouarense.}, keywords = {{TUNISIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {61}, numero = {{P}art 1}, pages = {99--104}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2011}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.017715-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010053141}, }
