@article{fdi:010049702, title = {{M}ulti-host ectomycorrhizal fungi are predominant in a {G}uinean tropical rainforest and shared between canopy trees and seedlings}, author = {{D}i{\'e}dhiou, {A}bdala and {S}elosse, {M}. {A}. and {G}aliana, {A}. and {D}iabat{\'e}, {M}. and {D}reyfus, {B}ernard and {B}รข, {A}madou and {M}iana de {F}aria, {S}. and {B}{\'e}na, {G}illes}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he diversity of ectomycorrhizal ({ECM}) fungi on adult trees and seedlings of five species, {A}nthonotha fragrans, {A}nthonotha macrophylla, {C}ryptosepalum tetraphyllum, {P}aramacrolobium coeruleum and {U}apaca esculenta, was determined in a tropical rain forest of {G}uinea. {E}ctomycorrhizae were sampled within a surface area of 1600 m2, and fungal taxa were identified by sequencing the r{DNA} {I}nternal {T}ranscribed {S}pacer region. {T}hirty-nine {ECM} fungal taxa were determined, of which 19 multi-hosts, 9 single-hosts and 11 singletons. {T}he multi-host fungi represented 92% (89% when including the singletons in the analysis) of the total abundance. {E}xcept for {A}. fragrans, the adults of the host species displayed significant differentiation for their fungal communities, but their seedlings harboured a similar fungal community. {T}hese findings suggest that there was a potential for the formation of common mycorrhizal networks in close vicinity. {H}owever, no significant difference was detected for the delta 13{C} and delta 15{N} values between seedlings and adults of each {ECM} plant, and no {ECM} species exhibited signatures of mixotrophy. {O}ur results revealed (i) variation in {ECM} fungal diversity according to the seedling versus adult development stage of trees and (ii) low host specificity of {ECM} fungi, and indicated that multi-host fungi are more abundant than single-host fungi in this forest stand.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{E}nvironmental {M}icrobiology}, volume = {12}, numero = {8}, pages = {2219--2232}, ISSN = {1462-2912}, year = {2010}, DOI = {10.1111/j.1462-2920.2010.02183.x}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010049702}, }
