  abstract = {{A}ccording to current generic delimitations, supported by wood anatomy, palynology, and recent molecular phylogenies, {A}ntirhea, traditionally treated as a {P}antropical genus, is instead restricted to the {P}aleotropics. {A}t the same time, the {N}eotropical species traditionally positioned in {A}ntirhea should be positioned in {S}tenostomum. {F}ollowing these definitions, {S}tenostomum is a genus with most of the species present in the {C}aribbean {R}egion, and two species present in the {G}uianas, namely {S}. acreanum and {S}. guianensis, distributed throughout the {A}mazon {B}asin. {I}n addition, according to these new generic delimitations, two species previously positioned in {G}uettarda and {A}ntirhea need to be transferred to {C}homelia, as {C}. triflora and {C}. ulei.},
