@article{fdi:010048469, title = {{B}radyrhizobia nodulating the {A}cacia mangium x {A}. auriculiformis interspecific hybrid are specific and differ from those associated with both parental species}, author = {{L}e {R}oux, {C}. and {T}entchev, {D}. and {P}rin, {Y}. and {G}oh, {D}. and {J}aparudin, {Y}. and {P}errineau, {M}. {M}. and {D}uponnois, {R}obin and {D}omergue, {O}. and {L}ajudie de, {P}hilippe and {G}aliana, {A}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}n the context of an increasing utilization of the interspecific hybrid {A}cacia mangium x {A}. auriculiformis as a plantation tree in the tropical humid zone, its symbiotic characterization was carried out in comparison with that of its two parental species. {R}hizobium strains of diverse geographical origins were isolated from root nodules of the hybrid and its parents. {A}lmost all {A}cacia hybrid isolates were fast growing on yeast extract-mannitol medium, in contrast to those isolated from both parental species, which were mostly slow growing. {T}he rhizobium strains were characterized through partial sequencing of the r{RNA} operon. {I}n the phylogenetic tree, almost all strains isolated from the hybrid were grouped together in a clade close to {B}radyrhizobium japonicum, while all strains isolated from both parental species were close to {B}radyrhizobium elkanii. {I}noculation experiments performed under in vitro or greenhouse conditions showed that all strains were infective with their original hosts but exhibited very variable degrees of effectivity according to the host plant tested. {T}hus, homologous strain-host associations were more effective than heterologous ones. {T}his shows that there is still a high potential for isolating and testing new strains from hybrids to be used as inoculants in the context of large-scale afforestation programs.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}pplied and {E}nvironmental {M}icrobiology}, volume = {75}, numero = {24}, pages = {7752--7759}, ISSN = {0099-2240}, year = {2009}, DOI = {10.1128/aem.01887-09}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010048469}, }
