@article{fdi:010048408, title = {{D}istribution of pyrethroid and {DDT} resistance and the {L}1014{F} kdr mutation in {A}nopheles gambiae s.l. from {B}urkina {F}aso ({W}est {A}frica)}, author = {{D}abir{\'e}, {K}. {R}. and {D}iabat{\'e}, {A}. and {N}amountougou, {M}. and {T}o{\'e}, {K}. {H}. and {O}uari, {A}. and {K}engne, {P}ierre and {B}ass, {C}. and {B}aldet, {T}hierry}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he study reports on the distribution of pyrethroid and {DDT} resistance and the {L}1014{F} knockdown resistance (kdr) mutation in {A}nopheles gambiae s.l. populations from 21 localities in three different climatic zones of {B}urkina {F}aso from {A}ugust to {O}ctober 2006. {T}he susceptibitity of these populations was assessed by bioassay using {DDT} (4%), permethrin (1%) and deltamethrin (0.05%). {A}nopheles gambiae were resistant to both permethrin and {DDT} in the {S}udanian regions but were susceptible in the central and sahelian areas and susceptible to deltamethrin at all sites except {O}rodara, although mortality values in some populations were close to the resistance threshold. {T}he kdr frequency varied from 0.4 to 0.97 in populations from the {S}uclanian region and was tower in populations from the {S}udano-sahelian and sahelian areas (0.047 to 0.54). {C}ompared to the last survey of kdr in {A}n. gambiae populations conducted in 2000, the kdr frequency did not differ in the {S} form but had increased in the {M} form (0.6), with an extended distribution into the {S}udano-sahelian region. {T}he frequency of kdr was also found to have increased in {A}n. arabiensis populations (0.28), where it was formerly reported in only a single specimen. {T}hese results have practical significance for malaria vector control, programs.}, keywords = {{A}nopheles gambiae ; {P}oint mutation ; {P}yrethroids ; {DDT} ; {I}nsecticide resistance ; {B}urkina {F}aso}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{T}ransactions of the {R}oyal {S}ociety of {T}ropical {M}edicine and {H}ygiene}, volume = {103}, numero = {11}, pages = {1113--1120}, ISSN = {0035-9203}, year = {2009}, DOI = {10.1016/j.trstmh.2009.01.008}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010048408}, }
