@article{fdi:010048388, title = {{S}easonality in adult flight activity of two neuroptera assemblages of southern {M}ali}, author = {{M}ichel, {B}. and {C}adet, {P}atrice}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he seasonality of insect assemblages in {A}frica is poorly investigated. {T}o provide information on the relationships between climate and insect assemblages in the {S}udanian region, strongly affected by climate change, we studied {M}yrmeleontidae and {A}scalaphidae assemblages ({I}nsecta: {N}europtera) for 7 and 5 consecutive years respectively in southern {M}ali. {T}o make the species inventory as exhaustive as possible, we performed weekly sampling by netting and light trapping. {F}or both assemblages, results showed very similar patterns of variation in species diversity throughout the year. {A}dults of {M}yrmeleontidae and {A}scalaphidae were active all year, and the species succession was influenced by a strong temporal segregation. {S}pecies diversity peaked at the end of the rainy season and surprisingly during the dry season. {P}rincipal component analysis of the climatic factors followed by co-inertia analysis applied to two data sets, one comprising climatic factors and the other reporting presence/absence of species, showed a good association between the annual trend of climatic factors and the species diversity. {B}ut no well defined species grouping was clearly linked to a particular period of the year. {T}his tight association between climate and species composition suggests that even small climate changes could modify significantly species assemblage characteristics.{R}esume {L}a saisonnalite des assemblages d'insectes en {A}frique est peu etudiee. {P}our fournir des informations sur les relations entre le climat et les assemblages d'insectes dans la region soudanienne, tres affectee par les changements climatiques, les assemblages de {M}yrmeleontidae et d'{A}scalaphidae ({I}nsectes: {N}europtera) ont eteetudies respectivement pendant sept et cinq annees consecutives dans le sud du {M}ali. {P}our que l'inventaire des especes soit le plus complet possible, on a realise des echantillonnages hebdomadaires au moyen de filets et de pieges lumineux. {P}our les deux assemblages, les resultats ont montre des schemas de variation de la diversite des especes tres comparables tout au long de l'annee. {I}l y avait des adultes de {M}yrmeleontidae et d'{A}scalaphidae actifs toute l'annee, et la succession des especes etait influencee par une segregation temporelle tres forte. {L}a diversite des especes connaissait un pic la fin de la saison des pluies et, etonnamment, pendant la saison seche. {L}'analyse en composantes principales des facteurs climatiques suivie par une analyse de co-inertie appliquee deux jeux de donnees, un comprenant des facteurs climatiques, l'autre rapportant la presence/l'absence d'especes, a montre une bonne association entre la tendance annuelle des facteurs climatiques et la diversite des especes. {M}ais aucun groupement bien defini d'especes n'etait clairement lie une periode particuliere de l'annee. {C}ette etroite association entre le climat et la composition des especes suggere que meme de petits changements climatiques pourraient modifier significativement les caracteristiques de l'assemblage d'especes.}, keywords = {antlions ; {A}scalaphidae ; biodiversity ; community ecology ; {M}yrmeleontidae ; owlflies}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}frican {J}ournal of {E}cology}, volume = {47}, numero = {4}, pages = {670--679}, ISSN = {0141-6707}, year = {2009}, DOI = {10.1111/j.1365-2028.2008.01019.x}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010048388}, }
