@article{fdi:010048335, title = {{T}he type {III} effectors of {X}anthomonas}, author = {{W}hite, {F}. {F}. and {P}otnis, {N}. and {J}ones, {J}. {B}. and {K}oebnik, {R}alf}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} review of type {III} effectors ({T}3 effectors) from strains of {X}anthomonas reveals a growing list of candidate and known effectors based on functional assays and sequence and structural similarity searches of genomic data. {W}e propose that the effectors and suspected effectors should be distributed into 39 so-called {X}op groups reflecting sequence similarity. {S}ome groups have structural motifs for putative enzymatic functions, and recent studies have provided considerable insight into the interaction with host factors in their function as mediators of virulence and elicitors of resistance for a few specific {T}3 effectors. {M}any groups are related to {T}3 effectors of plant and animal pathogenic bacteria, and several groups appear to have been exploited primarily by {X}anthomonas species based on available data. {A}t the same time, a relatively large number of candidate effectors remain to be examined in more detail with regard to their function within host cells.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{M}olecular {P}lant {P}athology}, volume = {10}, numero = {6}, pages = {749--766}, ISSN = {1464-6722}, year = {2009}, DOI = {10.1111/j.1364-3703.2009.00590.x}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010048335}, }
