@article{fdi:010044383, title = {{C}ontexte villageois et recours aux soins dans la r{\'e}gion de {F}atick au {S}{\'e}n{\'e}gal}, author = {{F}ranckel, {A}. and {A}rcens, {F}. and {L}alou, {R}ichard}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{I}n the dense literature on health-seeking behaviour in the {A}frican rural environment, contextual aspects, and, more especially, differences between villages, are rarely studied. {T}his article therefore considers the village or group of villages as an aggregate level of analysis, based on a study conducted in the {F}atick region in {S}enegal. {T}he descriptive results show significant variations in therapeutic practices, disease management and health care planning strategies from one village to the next. {A}t different levels, individual health-seeking behaviours appear to be conditioned by a set of collective norms developed by the village community. {T}he spatial analysis shows that these variations in behaviour describe two distinct geographic sets, distinguished by different levels of access to health facilities and different historical, social and cultural characteristics. {T}hese results challenge 14 the validity of a unified approach to the {A}frican rural environment and call for further research to analyse the impact of numerous contextual, quantitative and qualitative factors on health-seeking behaviour.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{P}opulation}, volume = {63}, numero = {3}, pages = {531--553}, ISSN = {0032-4663}, year = {2008}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010044383}, }
