@article{fdi:010044084, title = {{R}enaud {P}aulian et le programme du {CNRS} sur les hautes montagnes {\`a} {M}adagascar : {\'e}tage vs domaine = {R}enaud {P}aulian and the {CNRS} project on {M}alagasy high mountains : vegetation belt vs domain}, author = {{G}uillaumet, {J}ean-{L}ouis and {B}etsch, {J}. {M}. and {C}allmander, {M}. {W}.}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{T}he project entitled "{S}tudy of montane ecosystems in the {M}alagasy region" ({RCP} 225/{CNRS}, directed by {R}enaud {P}aulian) aimed to elucidate the general features of these ecosystems and the origin of their constituent elements, and to test the validity of the {H}igh {M}ountain {D}omain proposed by {H}umbert in 1951. {F}rom 1970 to 1973, three expeditions (to the {A}ndringitra, {A}nosy, {A}nkaratra, itremo, libity and {M}arojejy massifs) provided informations to characterize the ecology of these particular environments and to analyse systematically certain groups well-known for their biogeographic interest. {T}he altitudinal succession of plant formations, defined by physiognomic and structural criteria, were detailed for each massif. {T}he highest belt, characterized by an ericoid bush and related associations, does not correspond to the {H}igh {M}ountain formation of {E}ast {A}frica. {D}ata on several faunal groups, including invertebrates ({H}exapoda: {C}ollembola and {D}ermaptera), indicate a disjunction between the northern montane massifs ({T}saratanana and marojejy) and the remainder in the {C}enter and {S}outh; several floristic groups ({P}andanaceae, {A}raliaceae and {A}steraceae) are currently being analyzed in a similar manner. {M}adagascar's {H}igh {M}ountain {D}omain is an ecological reality, but it can not be defined floristically, as each massif represents a separate phyrogeographic entity of the island's {C}entral {D}omain. {F}aunal groups with limited mobility broadly indicate a trophic and bioclimatic dependence (buffer effect of the intra-forest climate) with regard to vegetation belt, but can respond to local microclimates by a shift at the limits of their ranges.}, keywords = {{M}adagascar ; {M}ountain ; {V}egetal formations ; {V}egetation belts ; {S}oil fauna ; {E}ndemism ; {H}igh mountain ; {D}omain}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{Z}oosystema}, volume = {30}, numero = {3}, pages = {723--748}, ISSN = {1280-9551}, year = {2008}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010044084}, }
