  abstract = {{B}radyrhizobium strains, isolated in {N}ew {C}aledonia from nodules of the endemic legume {S}erianthes calycina growing in nickel-rich soils, were able to grow in the presence of 15 m{M} {N}i{C}l2. {T}he genomes of these strains harbored two {N}i resistance determinants, the cnr and nre operons. {B}y constructing a cnr{A} mutant, we demonstrated that the cnr operon determines the high nickel resistance in {B}radyrhizobium strains.},
