@article{fdi:010041482, title = {{P}roteasome comprising a beta 1 inducible subunit acts as a negative regulator of {NADPH} oxidase during elicitation of plant defense reactions}, author = {{L}equeu, {J}. and {S}imon {P}las, {F}. and {F}romentin, {J}. and {E}tienne, {P}. and {P}etitot, {A}nne-{S}ophie and {B}lein, {J}.{P}. and {S}uty, {L}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{E}licitation of defense reactions in tobacco by cryptogein, triggered a production of active oxygen species ({AOS}) via the {NADPH} oxidase, {N}trboh{D}, and an accumulation of beta 1din, a defense induced beta-type subunit of 20{S} proteasome. {T}he proteasome inhibitor, {MG}132, stimulated this {AOS} production. {T}obacco cells transformed with sense constructs of beta 1din showed an inhibition of the {AOS} production following elicitin treatment, whereas the antisense transformed cells showed a strongly enhanced {AOS} production. {I}n cells transformed with sense construct of beta 1din, the {N}trboh{D} transcripts failed to be induced by cryptogein as observed in control and antisense transformed cells. {C}onversely, in tobacco cells transformed with antisense constructs for {N}trboh{D}, {O}ldin transcripts remained at a low level after elicitation. {T}hese results constitute the first demonstration of proteasome comprising {O}ldin acting as a negative regulator of {N}trboh{D} and contributes to the regulation of {AOS} generation during plant defense reactions.
