  abstract = {{A} new species of {P}aragrillotia {D}ollfus, 1969, {P} apecteta n. sp., is described from the spiral valve of {H}exanchus nakamurai {T}eng, 1962, from {L}ifou, {N}ew {C}aledonia, {S}outh {P}acific. {T}he new species differs from congeners in its distinctive basal armature with characteristic enlarged hooks, the presence of seven hooks {P}er principal row and the presence of two or three rows of intercalary hooks. {P}seudogrillotia spratti {C}ampbell and {B}everidge, 1993 is redescribed from specimens collected from {N}egaprion acutidens ({R}uppell, 1837) from {N}ew {C}aledonia. {T}he fully mature segment is described for the first time. {T}he presence of a chainette on the external surface of the tentacle indicates that the species belongs {P}aragrillotia rather than to {P}seudogrillotia {D}ollfus, 1969 as {P}aragrillotia spratti ({C}ampbell and {B}everidge, 1993) n. comb. {B}oth species represent the first records of the genus {P}aragrillotia from the southern hemisphere.},
