@article{fdi:010037978, title = {{H}ydraulic properties of the diagnostic horizon of {L}atosols of a regional toposequence across the {B}razilian {C}entral {P}lateau}, author = {{R}eatto, {A}. and {B}ruand, {A}. and {S}ilva, {E}. {M}. and {M}artins, {E}. {S}. and {B}rossard, {M}ichel}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he {B}razilian {C}entral {P}lateau covers about 40% of the {C}errados {B}iome and represents 24% of the {B}razilian territory. {T}he {L}atosols correspond to about 40% of the {C}entral {P}lateau. {W}e analyzed the hydraulic properties of a set of {L}atosols varying according to clay content and mineralogy along a regional toposequence across the {B}razilian {C}entral {P}lateau. {W}e studied the properties of the diagnostic horizon ({B}w) of {L}atosols located on the {S}outh {A}merican and {V}elhas {S}urfaces. {W}e measured the bulk and particle density, the water retention properties at -1, -6, -10, - 33, -300, and - 1500 k{P}a by using the centrifugation method, and determined the saturated hydraulic conductivity ({Q} in the field using the {G}uelph permeameter. {R}esults showed that the total pore volume explained a proportion of the variance of the water retained that decreased with the water potential. {O}n the other hand, the clay content explained a proportion of that variance that increases when the water potential decreased. {T}he great proportion of variance (90.7%) explained for by the clay content alone at - 1500 k{P}a showed that there is little variability that can be attributed to clay mineralogy variation. {T}he {K}, value was related to an effective porosity for the {B}w of {L}atosols studied and was defined as the volume proportion of pore with an equivalent diameter of > 300 mu m, since it was occupied by air at - {I} k{P}a. {R}esults showed that water retention properties and, varied mainly according to the clay content and development of large pores without any close link with the mineralogy of the clay fraction.}, keywords = {structure ; oxisol ; ferralsol ; pedotransfer function ; water retention ; {C}errado}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{G}eoderma}, volume = {139}, numero = {1-2}, pages = {51--59}, ISSN = {0016-7061}, year = {2007}, DOI = {10.1016/j.geoderma.2007.01.003}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010037978}, }
