<dc:description>The increasing influence of the Mossi ethnic community in the agricultural colonization of the region to the west of Burkina Faso can clearly be seen when studying the landscape. The dynamic nature of this visible agricultural domination is directly related to the cohesion of Mossi society (role played by tradesmen, extended families and the mortar of Islam). The analysis of regional economic changes (the success of corn and cotton production) and tension surrounding the control of land ownership and tenancy is best appreciated through an understanding of the social structure of the Mossi ethnic community.
