@incollection{fdi:010015618, title = {{R}are earth elements and titanium in plants, soils and groundwaters in the alkaline-ultramafic complex of {S}alitre, {MG}, {B}razil}, author = {{C}eccantini, {G}. and {F}igueiro, {A}.{M}.{G}. and {S}ondag, {F}rancis and {S}oubi{\`e}s, {F}ran{\c{c}}ois}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he contents of {R}are {E}arth {E}lements ({REE}) and titanium in various species of plants, in groundwaters and in soils from the ultramafic complex of {S}alitre, {MG}, {B}razil, were determined. {D}ue to the particular mineralogy of the bedrock, {REE} and {T}i present high concentrations in the soils. {T}he transfer factors of the {REE} from soil to plants were calculated, giving values ranging from 0.0001 to 0.0028, much lower than the values reported elsewhere in {B}razil. {F}urthermore, as suggested by other authors, the levels of {REE} in the plants appears to be independent from the {REE} contents in the soils. {T}he concentrations of the {REE} in the plants, normalized to chondrites contents, show patterns similar to those of the soils. {T}he patterns obtained for the normalized {REE} contents in groundwaters suggest an influence of the plant root activity leading to an enrichment in heavy {REE}. {S}ome plant species show an accumulation of titanium and present concentration values about three times higher than the average content in plantes cited in the literature.
