@article{fdi:010011750, title = {{J}arosita e plumbojarosita nos gossans do distrito mineiro de {C}anoas ({PR})}, author = {{O}liveira, {S}.{M}. {B}arros de and {B}lot, {A}lain and {I}mbernon, {R}. {A}parecida {L}iguori and {M}agat, {P}hilippe}, editor = {}, language = {{POR}}, abstract = {{J}arosites and plumbojarosites in gossans related to {P}b-{Z}n mineralization in the {C}anoas {D}istrict are described. {T}hey are always associated with goethite and in minor extent with hematite. {S}ome crystals show zoning with a core of jarosite and a rim of plumjarosite. {O}thers are rather homogeneous with intermediate composition. {I}n the general formula {AB}3({SO}4)2({OH})6, {A} sites are occupied by {K} and {P}b and {B} sites by {F}e, {A}l and {Z}n. {A} and {B} sites are often incompletely filled. {A} sites generally show excess of charge. {B} sites show deficiency. {J}arosites and plumbojarosites are secondary minerals formed by sulfur, iron and lead derived from the weathering of sulphides, and potassium from the gangue mineral orthoclase. {T}he jarosite-goethite association in gossans percolated by meteoric waters is thermodynamically unstable. {I}t persists due to the sluggishness of the transformation of the jarosite into goethite. {T}hus, the {C}anoas jarosites are transitory {P}b bearing phases. {I}n the mature gossans {P}b is associated only with the oxyhydroxides.
