%X On 4th may 1995, a French tuna fishing ship caught in its purse seine a megamouth shark about 40 miles off Dakar (Senegal) by 15°08'N and 18°22'W. It was a young male of about 180 cm TL, but unfortunately it was not preserved. This was the first record of a megamouth shark in the Atlantic and the smallest specimen ever recorded.
