({H}ymenophyllaceae, {P}olypodiidae) in the {A}fro-{M}alagasy region and description of a new species}, author = {{D}ubuisson, {J}. {Y}. and {B}oucheron-{D}ubuisson, {E}. and {L}e {P}echon, {T}. and {B}ausero, {P}. and {D}roissart, {V}incent and {D}eblauwe, {V}. and {E}bihara, {A}. and {H}ennequin, {S}. and {R}ouhan, {G}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{V}andenboschia radicans (supposedly {N}eotropical and {A}frican), {V}. speciosa (supposedly {E}uropean and {M}acaronesian) and {V}. gigantea (supposedly from western {I}ndian {O}cean) are morphologically close species and often confused in collections and in floras. {M}oreover, the status of {A}frican populations is still strongly debated. {W}e undertook to combine morphological, morphometrics and molecular phylogenetic analyses, on these three species, by also including the {N}eotropical {V}. collariata, morphologically close to {V}. radicans, to try to discriminate putative geographical lineages and discuss their taxonomic status. {O}ur results show that {V}. collariata is distinct from the other species, and that {V}. radicans, {V}. speciosa, {V}. gigantea and the {A}frican specimens remain morphologically and morphometrically indistinguishable. {N}evertheless, the {N}eotropical specimens of {V}. radicans, {V}. speciosa and {V}. gigantea are each genetically strongly distinct and are thus clearly supported as distinct species. {A}frican specimens are all grouped into a distinct clade sister to {V}. gigantea and are distinguished by the presence of a well-developed wing on the stipe, lacking in {V}. gigantea. {T}aking into account this stipe feature as well as genetic differences, we describe here {V}andenboschia confusa as a new species corresponding to the {A}frican populations. {T}he origin of this species in the region is discussed, in addition to the complex taxonomy of {E}uropean-{M}acaronesian {V}. speciosa.}, keywords = {{V}andenboschia radicans ; morphometrics ; {A}frica ; {I}ndian {O}cean ; filmy ferns ; {AFRIQUE} ; {MADAGASCAR} ; {OCEAN} {INDIEN}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{B}otany {L}etters}, volume = {169}, numero = {2}, pages = {268--283}, ISSN = {2381-8107}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.1080/23818107.2022.2062445}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00024385}, }
