@article{PAR00009509, title = {{B}iology of the {A}pionidae ({C}oleoptera : {C}urculionoidea) in {N}ew {C}aledonia, a preliminary report}, author = {{W}anat, {M}. and {M}unzinger, {J}{\'e}r{\^o}me}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{H}ost records on the weevil family {A}pionidae in {N}ew {C}aledonia are summarised, based on field observations in 2004-2010, and supplemented with dates of collecting freshly emerged adult specimens obtained from museum collections worldwide. {A}t the genus level, the following generalised host associations of the {A}pionidae have been documented: {R}hadinocyba (only the {R}h. singularis-species group), {M}egatracheloides and {H}imantapion with {H}ibbertia ({D}illeniaceae); {D}iscelapion, {T}hyridapion and {P}terapion (s. str.) with {P}ycnandra, {P}lanchonella, and {B}eccariella ({S}apotaceae); {A}pterapion with {C}odia ({C}unoniaceae); {H}ellerenius and {C}aledonapion with {H}edycarya ({M}onimiaceae); {A}napotapion with {P}iper and {M}acropiper ({P}iperaceae), {S}terculapion with {C}ommersonia ({M}alvaceae). {V}arious species of {T}etrapion were collected either from {C}odia ({C}unoniaceae) or {G}uioa, {C}upaniopsis ( {S}apindaceae). {R}ecorded associations of {D}iapion with {F}icus ({M}oraceae), and {Z}immius with {C}ryptocarya ({L}auraceae) still need confirmation. {T}wo generations per season are likely in members of at least {R}hadinocyba, {M}egatracheloides, and {P}terapion, judging from the extended period of appearance of teneral specimens. {T}he subgenus {A}pterapion {W}anat, 2001 of {P}terapion {F}aust, 1889 is raised to genus rank, with type-species {A}pterapion hamiota ({W}anat, 2001).}, keywords = {{A}pioninae ; {R}hadinocybinae ; {A}ustralo-{P}acific ; taxonomy ; biology ; host ; plants ; phenology}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{Z}ootaxa}, numero = {3554}, pages = {59--74}, ISSN = {1175-5326}, year = {2012}, DOI = {10.11646/zootaxa.3554.1.5}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00009509}, }
