@article{PAR00006189, title = {{S}tratigraphy of the {H}ameima and lower {F}ahdene {F}ormations in the {T}adjerouine area ({N}orthern {T}unisia)}, author = {{C}hihaoui, {A}. and {J}aillard, {E}tienne and {L}atil, {J}. {L}. and {Z}ghal, {I}. and {S}usperregui, {A}. {S}. and {T}ouir, {J}. and {O}uali, {J}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}n the {T}adjerouine area of north-western central {T}unisia, the {A}lbian transgression is characterized by deposition of alternating marls, limestones and sandstones ({H}ameima {F}m) that overly massive platform carbonate rocks ({S}erdj {F}m). {T}he continuing transgression results in deposition of a thick series of marls and shales with subordinate carbonate beds ({F}ahdene {F}m). {A} detailed study of the {H}ameima {F}m, previously ascribed to the {L}ate {A}ptian, shows that this formation can be subdivided into three members, all of earliest {A}lbian age ({L}eymeriella tardefurcata {Z}one). {T}he top of the {H}ameima {F}m is slightly diachronous in the study area. {A} similar study of the {L}ower {S}hales of the {F}ahdene {F}m demonstrates that they belong to the {L}. tardefurcata {Z}one and to the lower part of the {D}ouvilleiceras mammillatum superzone. {T}he overlying {A}llam limestones, formerly considered {M}iddle {A}lbian in age, are mainly of late {E}arly {A}lbian age (upper part of the {D}. mammillatum {S}uperzone and {L}yelliceras pseudolyelli {Z}one), although an extension into the lower {M}iddle {A}lbian cannot be ruled out. {T}he {A}llam limestones are abruptly overlain by a diachronous series of {L}ate {A}lbian shales ({M}iddle {S}hales of the {F}ahdene {F}m), thus evidencing a stratigraphic hiatus of most of the {M}iddle {A}lbian and part of the early {L}ate {A}lbian. {O}ur new data will lead to revision of the range of some {A}ptian/{A}lbian orbitolinids and {A}lbian planktic foraminifera.}, keywords = {{T}unisia ; {E}arly {A}lbian ; {A}mmonites ; {S}tratigraphy ; {B}iostratigraphy ; {F}oraminifera}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {A}frican {E}arth {S}ciences}, volume = {58}, numero = {2}, pages = {387--399}, ISSN = {1464-343{X}}, year = {2010}, DOI = {10.1016/j.jafrearsci.2010.02.008}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00006189}, }
