@article{PAR00004853, title = {{M}arine algal flora of {F}rench {P}olynesia {III}. {R}hodophyta, with additions to the {P}haeophyceae and {C}hlorophyta}, author = {{N}'{Y}eurt, {A}. {D}. {R}. and {P}ayri, {C}laude}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}his third paper in a monographic series on the marine macroalgae of {F}rench {P}olynesia gives a detailed coverage of the species of {R}hodophyta occurring in these islands. {A} total of 197 taxa are presented (195 {R}hodophyceae, 1 {P}haeophyceae and {I} {C}hlorophyta; of these, 84 (or 43%) represent new records for the flora, while 7 (or 3.6%) are new species. {T}he new combination {J}ania subulata ({J}. {E}llis et {S}olander) {N}'{Y}eurt et {P}ayri is made for {H}aliptilon subulatum ({J}. {E}llis et {S}olander) {W}. {H}. {J}ohansen. {P}adina stipitata {T}anaka et {N}ozawa ({P}haeophyceae) and {C}odium saccatum {O}kamura ({C}hlorophyceae) are notable additions to the flora from deepwater habitats in the southern {A}ustrals; 56 taxa (or 28.7%) occur only in the {A}ustral archipelago. {T}he flora has most affinities with that of the {H}awaiian {I}slands ({S}orensen {I}ndex = 0.30), followed by the {C}ook {I}slands and {S}amoa ({SI} = 0.26 each) and the {S}olomon {I}slands ({SI} = 0.25). {T}here are some disjunct distribution patterns for several subtropical to temperate species, possibly suggesting special oceanic current routes between the southern {A}ustrals, {H}awaii and the {S}outhern {A}ustralian region.}, keywords = {algae ; biogeography ; distribution ; floristics ; {F}rench {P}olynesia ; {R}hodophyceae ; new records ; taxonomy}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}ryptogamie {A}lgologie}, volume = {31}, numero = {1}, pages = {3--201}, ISSN = {0181-1568}, year = {2010}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00004853}, }
