@article{PAR00004654, title = {{G}enomics and evolution of {A}edes-borne flaviviruses}, author = {{G}rard, {G}. and {M}oureau, {G}. and {C}harrel, {R}, and {H}olmes, {E}. {C}. and {G}ould, {E}. {A}. and de {L}amballerie, {X}avier}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{W}e analysed the complete coding sequences of all recognized species of {A}edes-borne flavivirus, including previously uncharacterized viruses within the yellow fever virus ({YFV}), {S}pondweni virus ({SPOV}) and dengue virus ({DENV}) groups. {T}wo major phylogenetic lineages were revealed: one included the {YFV} and {E}ntebbe bat virus groups, and the other included the {DENV}, {SPOV} and {C}ulex-borne flavivirus groups. {T}his analysis supported previous evidence that {C}ulex-borne flaviviruses have evolved from ancestral {A}edes-borne viruses. {H}owever, the topology at the junction between these lineages remains complex and may be refined by the discovery of viruses related to the {K}edougou virus. {A}dditionally, viral evolution was found to be associated with the appearance of new biological characteristics; mutations that may modify the envelope protein structure were identified for seven viruses within the {YFV} group, and an expansion of host-vector range was identified in the two major evolutionary lineages, which in turn may facilitate the emergence of mosquito-borne flaviviruses.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {G}eneral {V}irology}, volume = {91}, numero = {{P}art 1}, pages = {87--94}, ISSN = {0022-1317}, year = {2010}, DOI = {10.1099/vir.0.014506-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00004654}, }
