@article{PAR00002081, title = {{M}ultiyear validation of the {NRL}-{G}2{S} wind fields using infrasound from {Y}asur - art. no. {D}23110}, author = {{A}ntier, {K}. and {L}e {P}ichon, {A}. and {V}ergniolle, {S}. and {Z}ielinski, {C}. and {L}ardy, {M}ichel}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he {Y}asur volcano in the {V}anuatu archipelago is an outstanding source of infrasonic waves due to its regular activity. {T}his volcano is permanently monitored by the {IS}22 infrasound station located in {N}ew {C}aledonia, about 400 km from it, and by one microbarometer installed close to its crater. {A} multiyear monitoring of {Y}asur is proposed to validate consistently the {N}aval {R}esearch {L}aboratory {G}round to {S}pace ({NRL}-{G}2{S}) semiempirical atmospheric model up to the stratosphere. {T}he results of propagation modeling accurately explain seasonal changes as well as small short-timescale variations of the infrasonic observables. {T}he azimuthal deviation is predicted with an uncertainty in general lower than 0.5 degrees. {T}he fluctuations of the trace velocity and the celerity are simulated with errors as large as 5 m/s. {T}his study demonstrates that the use of appropriate propagation tools along with the {NRL}-{G}2{S} specifications provides accurate enough results for most of the long-range observations for the purpose of operational infrasound monitoring.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {G}eophysical {R}esearch {A}tmospheres}, volume = {112}, numero = {{D}23}, pages = {{NIL}_1--{NIL}_6}, ISSN = {0148-0227}, year = {2007}, DOI = {10.1029/2007{JD}008462}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00002081}, }
