@article{PAR00001029, title = {{M}arine algal flora of {F}rench {P}olynesia {I}. {P}haeophyceae ({O}chrophyta, brown algae)}, author = {{N}'{Y}eurt, {A}ntoine and {P}ayri, {C}laude}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}his first paper in a monographic series on the marine algae of {F}rench {P}olynesia attempts to give a detailed coverage of the species of {P}haeophyceae occurring in these islands. {A} total of 31 taxa are presented. {A}mong these, seven represent new records for {F}rench {P}olynesia. {T}he flora has affinities with neighbouring localities such as the {C}ook {I}slands, {H}awai'i, {F}iji, and {L}ord {H}owe {I}sland, and there are taxa represented from both tropical and sub-tropical to temperate regions owing to the wide latitudinal distribution of the islands in {F}rench {P}olynesia, ranging from below the equator to well below the {T}ropic of {C}apricorn. {N}ew published records for {F}rench {P}olynesia include {C}ladosiphon novae-caledoniae, {C}utleria irregularis, {C}. mollis, {H}ydroclathrus tumulis, {P}adina melentele, {S}argassum cf. {S}. echinocarpum and {S}typopodium australasicum, all of which (excepted for {S}argassum cf. {S}. echinocarpum) are restricted to the cooler waters of the southern {A}ustral {I}slands ({R}apa, {M}arotiri).}, keywords = {algae ; biogeography ; distribution ; flora ; {F}rench {P}olynesia ; {P}haeophyceae ; new records ; taxonomy ; {POLYNESIE} {FRANCAISE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}ryptogamie {A}lgologie}, volume = {27}, numero = {2}, pages = {111--152}, ISSN = {0181-1568}, year = {2006}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/{PAR}00001029}, }
