@article{PAR00000474, title = {{H}ost-parasite relations and seasonal occurrence of {P}aragordius tricuspidatus and {S}pinochordodes tellinii ({N}ematomorpha) in {S}outhern {F}rance}, author = {{S}chmidt {R}haesa, {A}. and {B}iron, {D}avid and {J}oly, {C}. and {T}homas, {F}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{P}aragordius tricuspidatus ({D}ufour, 1828) and {S}pinochordodes tellinii ({C}amerano, 1888) are two sympatric species of horsehair worms in southern {F}rance. {P}aragordius tricuspidatus was found in only one host species, {N}emobius sylvestris ({B}osc, 1792), while {S}pinochordodes tellinii was found in nine different hosts belonging to {O}rthoptera {C}aelifera. {S}ize of nematomorphs varied strongly, but is additionally influenced by host size (in {S}pinochordodes tellinii) or number of parasites per host (in {P}aragordius tricuspidatus). {B}oth species have a clear seasonality with {P}aragordius tricuspidatus occurring from {J}une to early {A}ugust and {S}pinochordodes tellinii occurring in {A}ugust and {S}eptember.
