@article{PAR00000447, title = {{T}he {H}uallaga foreland basin evolution : thrust propagation in a deltaic environment, northern {P}eruvian {A}ndes}, author = {{H}ermoza, {W}. and {B}russet, {S}. and {B}aby, {P}atrice and {G}il, {W}. and {R}oddaz, {M}. and {G}uerrero, {N}. and {B}olanos, {M}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he sub-{A}ndean {H}uallaga basin is part of the modern retroforeland basin system of {P}eru. {I}t corresponds to a thrust-and-fold belt superimposed on inverted and halokinetic structures and is characterized by {E}ocene-{P}liocene, thick synorogenic series that have controlled the burial history of petroleum systems. {S}edimentological analysis and a sequentially restored cross-section based on seismic data and new field studies show three sequences of synorogenic deposits. {T}he {E}ocene ({L}ower {P}ozo member) developed in shoreface environments, when the basin morphology corresponded to a foresag depozone linked to an orogenic unloading period. {T}he {M}iddle {E}ocene sequence ({U}pper {P}ozo member) developed in shallow marine environments and recorded a change in {A}ndean geodynamics and the retroforeland basin system. {T}he basin morphology corresponded to a foredeep depozone linked to an orogenic loading period. {T}his configuration remained until the {M}iddle {M}iocene ({C}hambira {F}ormation). {T}he {M}iddle {M}iocene-{P}liocene sequence recorded the onset of the modern sub-{A}ndean {H}uallaga basin that became it wedge-top depozone. {T}hrust propagation occurred in a deltaic environment, which evolved progressively to an alluvial system linked to the modern {A}mazon {R}iver.
