  abstract = {{T}he carbon and oxygen metabolism of some coral reef communities of {T}ikehau atoll were studied in {N}ovember 1989. {C}alcification, photosynth{\`e}se and respiration were measured during incubation experiments in transparent plastic bags. {O}ver 24 hours period, we observed a net calcification rate for the three studied communities. {H}owever, only #{H}alimeda$ community presented an excess production.
