  abstract = {{A} survey system used in {S}enegal to obtain data on small-scale fishing activity and results since the start of the 1970s is described. {S}everal situations and solution relating to regional characteristics are presented, within the general context of a stratified plan, with several levels of observations in each stratum. {C}ertain procedures used to evaluate the qualities of the system are presented and the existence of a sharing of effort between the various species is demonstrated.
