A survey system used in Senegal to obtain data on small-scale fishing activity and results since the start of the 1970s is described. Several situations and solution relating to regional characteristics are presented, within the general context of a stratified plan, with several levels of observations in each stratum. Certain procedures used to evaluate the qualities of the system are presented and the existence of a sharing of effort between the various species is demonstrated. (Résumé d'auteur)
