  abstract = {{T}he growth rates of #{L}eporinus friderici$ ({B}loch, 1974) in four populations from four rivers of {F}rench {G}uiana are compared. {A}ccording to a statistical analysis of growth curves using the method of maximum likelihood with the {G}auss-{M}arkardt algorithm, a marked difference is observed in the growth of the different samples which is attributed to the year of capture rather than to the eographical origin of fishes. {I}t is demonstrated that the main factor affecting growth performances is the length of the rainy season, with corresponds for this species to the feeding period.
