%X Ten species of the Neotropical genus #Leporinus$ (#Pisces$, order Characiformes, fam. #Anostomidae$) from French Guiana, are briefly described and figured in color. The importance of the color pattern and of the electrophoresis patterns is emphasized. A short account of the technics of enzymatic electrophoresis, as well as some generalities on biochemical genetics, are offered, to show their interest and importance in modern systematics.
