@article{fdi:26711, title = {{H}istoire et milieu : quelques remarques sur les diff{\'e}rents types d'insertion de l'homme dans le milieu en {G}uyane}, author = {{G}renand, {P}ierre}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{T}he historical conditions for the genesis of the shifting cultivation by {A}merindians are reviewed. {B}efore the {E}uropean settlements in {G}uyanas, the historical events had no important effects upon the relationships between man activities and environment. {A}griculture by slash and burn methods represented 40 to 50 per cent of the nutritional resources, but animal proteins capture (hunting and fishing) was sociallly valorized. {W}ith the {E}uropeans arrival, agriculture became not only basis for substance of permanent settlements, but overall the sources for commercial products. {A}fter a period of fighting for land owning, especially near the coast, the soils have been cultivated with indian methods, but only around the permanent centers for administrative and military purposes. {T}he conditions of the man actions upon the environment suffer then a drastic change. {T}he creole type of agriculture is still dependent of economical orientation and space occupation which are external to it. {T}he arises the question of the future patterns for a self-centred economy, giving up the ideology of a continuous progress and growing.
