  abstract = {{T}he aim of this work is to estimate morphological parameters of dune systems in {W}est {A}frican {S}ahel from remote sensing images that will be utilized in paleolandform studies. {T}he sample is taken from a {MSS} {L}andsat view of the northern part of the {F}aguibine lake in {M}ali. {I}n order to extract the very structure, sequences of morphological transformations are applied to this image and an estimation of its anisotropy is obtained by a {R}ose of directions method.
