Based on forty biographical interviews conducted in Paris and Casablanca with Moroccans who graduated in France between 2008 and 2018 and who held engineering
and managerial positions in the financial or information and communication technology sectors at the time of the interview, this article attempts to shed new light on the dynamics
governing the development of their initial expatriation project in France. More specifically, this article aims to go beyond the prism of structural constraints and social determinism
as the exclusive variables for apprehending the student mobility of Moroccans in France, to highlight other elements of analysis of this phenomenon, linked in particular to factors relating
to educational orientation choices, professional identification processes, and strategies for anticipating a career in a specific sector of activity, put in place by students applying to study abroad.
