@article{fdi:010088409, title = {{A}minobacterium thunnarium sp nov., a mesophilic, amino acid-degrading bacterium isolated from an anaerobic sludge digester, pertaining to the phylum {S}ynergistetes}, author = {{H}amdi, {O}. and {B}en {H}ania, {W}ajdi and {P}ostec, {A}. and {B}ouallagui, {H}. and {H}amdi, {M}. and {B}onin, {P}. and {O}llivier, {B}ernard and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} new {G}ram-staining-positive, non-sporulating, mesophilic, amino acid-degrading anaerobic bacterium, designated strain {OTA} 102({T}), was isolated from an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor treating wastewater from cooking tuna. {T}he cells were curved rods (0.6-2.5x0.5 mu m) and occurred singly or in pairs. {T}he strain was motile by means of one lateral flagellum. {S}train {OTA} 102({T}) grew at temperatures between 30 and 45 degrees {C} (optimum 40 degrees {C}), between p{H} 6.0 and 8.4 (optimum p{H} 7.2) and {N}a{C}l concentrations between 1 and 5% (optimum 2%, w/v). {S}train {OTA} 102({T}) required yeast extract for growth. {S}erine, threonine, glycine, cysteine, citrate, fumarate, alpha-ketoglutarate and pyruvate were fermented. {W}hen co-cultured with {M}ethanobacterium formicicum as the hydrogen scavenger, strain {OTA} 102({T}) oxidized alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, aspartate, tyrosine, methionine, histidine and asparagine. {T}he genomic {DNA} {G} + {C} content of strain {OTA} 102({T}) was 41.7 mol%. {T}he main fatty acid was iso-{C}-15:0. {P}hylogenetic analysis of the 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence indicated that strain {OTA} 102({T}) was related to {A}minobacterium colombiense and {A}minobacterium mobile (95.5 and 95.2% similarity, respectively), of the phylum {S}ynergistetes. {O}n the basis of phylogenetic, genetic and physiological characteristics, strain {OTA} 102({T}) is proposed to represent a novel species of the genus {A}minobacterium, {A}minobacterium thunnarium sp. nov. {T}he type strain is {OTA} 102({T}) (={DSM} 27500({T})={JCM} 19320({T})).}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {65}, numero = {2}, pages = {609--614}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2015}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.068965-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010088409}, }
