@article{fdi:010088402, title = {{C}lostridiisalibacter paucivorans gen. nov., sp nov., a novel moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from olive mill wastewater}, author = {{L}iebgott, {P}ierre-{P}ol and {J}oseph, {M}anon and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure and {C}ayol, {J}ean-{L}uc and {F}alsen, {E}. and {C}hamkh, {F}. and {Q}atibi, {A}. {A}. and {L}abat, {M}arc}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} moderately halophilic, strictly anaerobic bacterium, designated 37{HS}60({T}), was isolated from an olive mill wastewater in southern {M}orocco ({M}arrakesh). {T}he cells were straight, motile and stained {G}ram-positive, forming spherical and terminal spores and with an atypical thick and stratified multilayered cell wall. {M}ajor fatty acid components were iso-{C}17: 1 omega 10c or anteiso-{C}17: 1 omega 3c (19.3%), {C}14:0 (14.3%), {C}16: 1 omega 7c (9.9%), {C}16: 1 omega 7c {DMA} (8.5%) and {C}16:0 (7.6%). {S}train 37{HS}60({T}) grew from 20 to 50 degrees {C} with an optimum at 40-45 degrees {C}, and growth was observed from p{H} 5.5 to 8.5 with an optimum of 6.8. {T}he salinity range for growth was 10-100 g {N}a{C}l l(-1) with an optimum at 50 g {N}a{C}l l(-1). {P}hylogenetic analysis based on 1 6{S}r{RNA} gene sequences revealed that strain 37{HS}60({T}) fell within the evolutionary radiation enclosed by cluster {XII} of the {C}lostridium subphylum. {S}train 37{HS}60({T}) exhibited highest 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence similarity of 92.0% with {C}aloranaerobacter azorensis and 90.6% with {C}lostridium purinilyticum. {M}oreover, 37{HS}60({T}) did not grow on basal medium with hexose or pentose sugars as carbon and energy sources. {P}yruvate, fumarate and succinate were the best substrates for 37{HS}60({T}) growth with 1.0 g yeast extract l-1. {T}he {DNA} {G} + {C} content was 33.0 mol%. {D}ue to its phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, isolate 37{HS}60({T}) is proposed as a novel species of a new genus, {C}lostridiisalibacter paucivorans gen. nov., sp. nov. {T}he type strain is 37{HS}60({T}) (= {JCM} 14354({T}) = {CCUG} 53849({T})).}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {58}, numero = {1}, pages = {61--67}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2008}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.65182-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010088402}, }
